FG&I's talent pool is enriched this month by the addition of Douglas C. Kahle. Recently working in the Miami, Florida, office of a Washington, D.C.-based firm, Doug is a 1994 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and The Order of the Coif. Immediately following law school, Doug clerked for U.S. District Judge Richard Mills, in the Central District of Illinois, and followed that clerkship with a stint as clerk to U.S. District Judge James Alesia, in the Northern District of Illinois. Doug is admitted to practice in Ohio and Florida; his addition swells FG&I's ranks to 29 lawyers.

FG&I completed a successful Fall recruiting season with accepted offers to two attorney candidates and one summer associate candidate. Joining FG&I upon graduation from law school in 2000 will be Howard Gardner (Ohio State University College of Law) and Ivan Goh (University of Dayton School of Law, and a 1999 FG&I summer associate). Clerking with the firm in the Summer of 2000 will be Jennifer Porter, a member of the Class of 2001 at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Ongoing leadership in local bar activities continues to be a hallmark of FG&I attorneys. Currently 16 FG&I lawyers participate in the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court, with Charlie Faruki (Counselor) and Jeff Cox (Program Chair) serving as members of the Inn's Executive Committee. (Charlie Faruki was one of the group of judges and lawyers who founded the Inn of Court in 1992, and has been a member of its Executive Committee since its inception.) The Inn of Court is a group of approximately 100 litigation attorneys and judges who meet monthly for dinner followed by educational presentations "designed to improve the skills, professionalism and legal ethics of the Bench and the Bar." Throughout the ten-year life of the firm, FG&I attorneys have been active in many and varied committees of the Dayton Bar Association, and this year is no exception. Ann Wightman serves as Vice-Chair of the Civil Trial Practice and ADR Committee, and Don Burton serves as Vice-Chair of the DBA's Committee on Continuing Legal Education.
