NOVEMBER NEWSLETTERThis month Charlie Faruki gave the presentation of Recent Developments in Federal Law, for the Federal Civil Court Breakout Session of the Seventh Annual Bench/Bar Conference sponsored by the Dayton Bar Association. The Bench/Bar Conference is the leading annual convocation of judges and practicing attorneys in this area. Charlie was asked to give the Recent Developments presentation as the leadoff to the discussion of federal court practice. Also in November, Charlie spoke at the 1999 Antitrust Institute of the Ohio State Bar Association. The institute, "Distribution Practices: Antitrust Counseling in the New Millennium" was Friday, November 12 in Columbus. The topic of Charlie's discussion was Dealer Terminations, with the focus on the subject of Pretermination Due Diligence, the title of the paper he prepared for that program. He included practical advice on handling dealer terminations and nonrenewals, dealer complaints about other distributors, and state dealer protection statutes. FG&I's attorney ranks grew this month with the addition of Daniel J. Gentry. Formerly associated with a leading firm in Sidney, Ohio, Dan is a 1995 cum laude graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law, and a 1995 admittee to the Bar of Ohio. He is also a member of the Bar of the United States District Courts for both the Southern and the Northern Districts of Ohio. Three FG&I attorneys who joined the firm in August, 1999, were sworn in to the Ohio Bar this month. Kelly Savage, Mark Engling and Andy Gottman were profiled briefly in the July newsletter update. They continue FG&I's track record of 100% pass rate on the first taking of the Ohio Bar Examination by new associates of the firm.
