Recently Charlie Faruki and a group of lawyers from FG&I successfully concluded lengthy, complicated settlement discussions with intervenor parties in the electric transition case proceeding before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio of the firm's client, The Dayton Power and Light Company. As a part of the restructuring of the electric utility industry in Ohio, Ohio's electric utilities were required to file proceedings at the PUCO for approval of their transition plans. DP&L's transition plan had been filed in December, 1999. DP&L's proceeding attracted in excess of 30 interested parties. The economic, accounting, and engineering issues involved were complex. Protracted efforts at settlement produced a resolution in the form of a Stipulation and Recommendation that was filed with the PUCO last month.

FG&I partner Mary Wiseman has been selected to be an at-large delegate from the state of Ohio to the Democratic National Convention in August, 2000. Elected to the Dayton City Commission in 1997, Mary also has been invited by United States Magistrate Judge Michael Merz to join the Board of the Montgomery County Historical Society.

FG&I partner Tom Kraemer recently organized and led a delegation (that included Mary Wiseman and other City Commissioners) on a goodwill trip late last month to Oiso, Japan, one of Dayton's international sister cities. The trip was a reunion visit of sorts for Tom, who spent several years teaching in Japan and traveling through the Far East between his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia and earning his law degree at the University of Pittsburgh.

Ann Wightman was notified recently of her selection for inclusion in Who's Who of American Women, Millennium Edition. Ann is a partner with the firm for several years, and is one of the group of attorneys who started FG&I in 1989.
