FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER
The December 29, 2000, edition of the Dayton Business Journal included an article entitled "Who Will Make News In 2001? Here's Two Cents Worth." Faruki Gilliam & Ireland P.L.L. was among those profiled in the article:
"Big Question: How high will Faruki Gilliam & Ireland P.L.L. rise?
Word on the Street: This year, Faruki Gilliam & Ireland became the Dayton area's fourth-largest law firm, according to DBJ Research. The firm has 29 full-time attorneys, compared to 22 in 1999 when it was ranked seventh among the Dayton area's law firms. Since its founding in 1989, Faruki Gilliam has grown by sticking to its commercial litigation roots and investing heavily in top-notch attorneys and technology."
FG&I expects continued growth in 2001, continuing to meet its clients' needs for top-quality litigation services.
FG&I partners Jeff Ireland and Tom Kraemer, along with associates Ron Raether and Martin Foos presented a CLE program for the Dayton Bar Association this month entitled "December 2000 Amendments to Federal Rules." Joined on the program by United States Magistrate Judge Michael R. Merz, Jeff, Tom, Ron and Marty discussed the mandatory disclosure requirements in Rule 26(a) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. FG&I attorneys are well-versed in federal court practice. FG&I Managing Partner Charlie Faruki is a long-time member of the Local Rules Advisory Committee for the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio, and also chairs that Court's Bar Examination Committee (since admission to that Court's Bar is by an examination given twice a year).
The January issue of The Federal Lawyer, the national journal of the Federal Bar Association, contains a book review authored by Charlie Faruki. The book that Charlie reviewed was "A Handbook of Jury Research," a large treatise that is the fourth and final volume in the American Law Institute-American Bar Association Committee on Professional Education series on juries. The book review appears in 48 The Federal Lawyer 42 (No. 1, January, 2001).
