FG&I Receives 2001 Law Day Special Recognition Award from the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, Domestic Relations Division, on May 1, 2001, during Law Day festivities at the Montgomery County Courts Building. The award was in recognition and appreciation for the work done by numerous FG&I attorneys who take cases on behalf of the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project, Inc. and Artemis House, representing persons unable to afford counsel. In an April 24, 2001, letter to FG&I's Ann Wightman, Montgomery County Domestic Relations Administrative Judge Denise Cross wrote:
"Given that your firm primarily practices in the area of commercial litigation, this level of commitment is extraordinary. Additionally, your firm has assisted a great number of families and children in the Montgomery County area by providing representation during a very difficult time.
We thank you for your continued commitment to the families and children within Montgomery County, and we congratulate you on your receipt of this award."
Karl Neudorfer joined the firm as a new associate this month. Karl is a 2000 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Law, where he earned his J.D. degree, with honors. Karl attended Ohio State for his undergraduate studies as well, graduating summa cum laude in 1997. Karl served as Executive Editor of The Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution and was a member of OSU's ABA National Moot Court Team. Before joining FG&I, Karl worked with a 15-attorney business litigation firm in Columbus, Ohio.
FG&I Takes Prominent Role in Old Courthouse Capital Campaign. Charlie Faruki and Jeff Cox are members of a small steering committee directing a capital campaign to the Dayton legal community to raise funds for restoration of Montgomery County's "Old Courthouse." Working with the Montgomery County Historical Society, funds raised for the project will be used to restore what has been described as one of the best examples of Greek revival architecture in the United States. Dedicated in 1850, the Old Courthouse has been the site for speeches by numerous U.S. Presidents from Abraham Lincoln to Bill Clinton, was the working county courthouse for over 100 years, remains a focal point at the center of downtown Dayton, and is the fifth-oldest surviving courthouse in Ohio. FG&I's offices look out on the Old Courthouse in the center of downtown Dayton. FG&I has committed to an early, lead pledge on the Courthouse fundraising drive and is soliciting other Dayton law firms to join in the effort.
Cox Addresses U.D. Law Students. Jeff Cox was an invited panelist last month addressing University of Dayton law students on "how to be a successful summer clerk." Jeff was joined on the panel by Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Barbara Gorman and others. Now a partner, Jeff was FG&I's first summer clerk, in 1990.
Looking For Speakers? Many of FG&I's attorneys have been speakers at various programs from clients, for lawyers' groups, and for organizations. The topics on which FG&I's attorneys can speak are varied, and if your group is looking for a speaker, and wishes to determine whether or not an FG&I attorney can fill the bill, please call Charlie Faruki at (937) 227-3705.
