Once again, Faruki Gilliam & Ireland P.L.L. is a proud co-sponsor of the Dayton Business Journal’s “Dayton Inc.” publication, which recognizes the Dayton area’s largest public and private companies, and the local operations of other prominent public companies. These are the companies that make Dayton thrive.  FG&I, along with its co-sponsor, Bruns General Contracting, Inc., and the Dayton Business Journal hosted a May 16 reception honoring the Dayton, Inc. honorees.

FG&I is pleased to announce that Martin A. Foos will be returning to the firm in August, following a clerkship with United States Magistrate Judge Christopher A. Nuechterlein of the Northern District of Indiana, at South Bend.  A 1995 graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he was a member of the Journal of Law, Ethics and Public Policy, Marty was an associate at FG&I from 1997 to 2001.  During his previous stint at FG&I, Marty was a member of the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court and the Dayton Bar Association’s Federal Practice Committee.  Before joining FG&I, Marty clerked with United States Magistrate Judge Theresa L. Springmann of the Northern District of Indiana from 1995 to 1997.

FG&I continues its support of i-Zone, www.i-zone.org, and recently sponsored the May 8, 2002 i-Zone meeting at Dayton’s fabled Engineers Club.  The May 8 meeting featured Charles Stack, President and CEO of Flashline, an “industry leader in providing enterprise software reuse solutions that facilitate the rapid development of software systems for business.”  In addition to sponsoring events, FG&I has reviewed business plans, assisted in i‑Zone’s Phase Two $100,000 challenge (providing seed money to competing entrepreneurs), and offered services through the i‑Zone’s knowledge network.  FG&I is pleased to provide its knowledge and experience in helping technology start-ups run their businesses here in the Greater Dayton market.

Charlie Faruki co-taught a day-long CLE seminar, on the subject of Insurance Coverage Law in Ohio.  Topics covered by Charlie included the insurance contract (including Ohio rules of interpretation, types of policies, who is an insured, cause(s) of loss, exclusions); hot topics in coverage (including environmental claims, construction claims, employment practices claims, and business litigation claims); ethical considerations (including the tripartite relationship among insured, insurer, and insurer-provided defense counsel); and extracontractual liability (including bad faith claims and punitive damages).  Charlie has taught a number of these subjects previously.
