FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER
The beginning of 2003 finds FI&C lawyers busy on numerous fronts, working on matters from California to Florida, and of course in Ohio. Jeff Cox, Brad Anderson and Melinda Burton commenced an American Arbitration Association hearing in late January representing one of Dayton's specialty physician practice groups in defense of a multiple count termination/discrimination action; that AAA arbitration is scheduled to conclude this month. Mary Wiseman and Jeff Sharkey were busy this month in federal court in Dayton defending a large out-of-state business in trade dress injunction proceedings. Mary and Jeff are partnering on that case with co-counsel from Chicago, Illinois. Meanwhile, Charlie Faruki, Jeff Ireland, Tom Kraemer and Don Burton, along with many other FI&C attorneys are busy with the full range of litigation activities for several of the firm's larger clients in competition disputes, patent infringement and class action cases, to name a few.
Watch this space for exciting changes! FI&C has begun work on a new firm website design to provide our clients, friends, prospective clients and future recruits with more information about the firm, who we are, and where we are headed. The new site will debut later this year, and will still be reachable in the same easy way at our current website address: www.ficlaw.com.
FI&C continues its commitment to community leadership in 2003, in part through its support of the arts and philanthropic giving. FI&C is proud to continue its strong financial support of Artemis, the Center for Alternatives to Domestic Violence. FI&C is one of the lead sponsors again this year of the YWCA's Women of Influence program, recognizing the Miami Valley's many female business and community leaders. FI&C is pleased to support the grand opening of Dayton's stunning new performing arts venue, the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Center for the Performing Arts, scheduled to open its doors with a gala celebration on February 28.
FI&C associate Brad Anderson is a member of the 2003 class of "Leadership Troy." A Troy, Ohio native, Brad and his family settled in Troy recently and Brad joined FI&C in 2002 following several years as a trial attorney in the United States Air Force where he held the rank of Major. Brad is a 1992 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the College of Wooster.
