The Dayton Business Journal published its annual Book of Lists on December 16, 2005.
FI&C is again ranked #3 in Dayton-Area Law Firms (ranked by number of local lawyers).  It is not only the largest firm devoted exclusively to litigation, but also the largest litigation practice in Dayton , and the firm with the highest proportion of lawyers who were members of their law journals in law school, judicial clerks, or both.

Charlie Faruki, Jeff Ireland, Jeff Cox and Bob Bartlett have again been selected by their peers as SuperLawyers.
Only five percent of Ohio lawyers receive this honor.  The selection process includes peer nominations from Ohio lawyers, a blue ribbon panel review, and independent research on candidates.  Charlie Faruki was again selected as one of the top 10 lawyers in Ohio .

In a case handled by FI&C, the Supreme Court of Ohio denied a motion for a stay that was filed by The Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel ("OCC").
In its motion for stay, OCC asked the Court to stay the implementation of a rate increase by FI&C client The Dayton Power and Light Company.  Charlie Faruki, Paul Horstman, Jeff Sharkey and Angela Sinkovits worked on this matter.

In a case handled by FI&C attorney Tim Pepper, the Supreme Court of Ohio ordered a financial planner to stop practicing law without a license and levied a $10,000 fine.
The financial planner was found to have repeatedly prepared legal instruments for dozens of persons.  The Supreme Court's decision came after nearly three years of pro bono litigation by Tim, who represented the Dayton Bar Association in the case.  The Bar Association is responsible for investigating and prosecuting the practice of law by nonlawyers, for the purpose of protecting the public from the harm that unauthorized practice can cause.  The matter was brought to the attention of the Bar Association when a will prepared by the financial planner had to be withdrawn from a probate court's consideration by the potential beneficiaries "due to certain irregularities."

Jeff Cox has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Miami Valley Venture Association for 2006.
