John has dealt with a wide variety of business litigation matters since joining FI&C in June 1999, including intellectual property cases, contract litigation, employment matters and class action work. He has a particular interest in patent litigation, and has experience with numerous cases involving such matters. Recognizing FI&C's commitment to the community, John also participates in the firm's active pro bono efforts through Dayton's Volunteer Lawyers Project, and serves as a legal advisor to the Chaminade-Julienne High School mock trial team.
John is licensed to practice in Ohio, and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He is a member of the American, Ohio, and Dayton Bar associations, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Dayton Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court.
John is a 1997 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Law, graduating with honors. While at OSU, he earned the Joseph M. Harter Memorial Trial Advocacy Award. During his first year of law school, John studied at the New York Law School in New York City, receiving the John M. Regan, Jr. Merit Scholarship, and ranking 14th in a class of 212. He is a 1993 graduate (summa cum laude) of Wright State University (B.A. Communications, concentrating in Journalism). While at Wright State, John accepted invitations to join the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and the Golden Key National Honor Society. John served as a legal extern to Chief Justice Thomas Moyer of the Ohio Supreme Court during his second summer of law school. Following graduation, John clerked for Judges Clair Dickinson and Beth Whitmore of the Nine District Court of Appeals in Akron, Ohio.
A Dayton native and current resident of Beavercreek, Ohio, John is an active member of St. Brigid Church, serving on its Facilities Management Committee and its Habitat for Humanity Project. In October 2001, John completed his first marathon.
