Robert "Eli" W. Kiefaber joined the firm in 2002, following his graduation from law school.

Eli's areas of practice include breach of contract disputes, complex business litigation, technology litigation, environmental matters, and class action defense, including securities and financial services class actions, in federal and state courts. 

Eli has represented publicly traded corporations and privately held companies across the nation in a variety of matters.  He has successfully defended an international distributor of motor vehicles in disputes involving breaches of warranty and defective products.  He also has represented environmental subcontractors in breach of contract actions involving air emissions and the Clean Air Act.  Eli also has detailed experience in environmental engineering matters and is familiar with pollution control measures, such as flue gas desulphurization, and assessing the costs of pollution control measures. He has represented companies and individuals in intellectual property litigation, privacy and compliance matters, and employment disputes, including covenants not to compete and severance agreements.  Eli also has guided corporations through responses to federal and regulatory investigations and internal corporate investigations.  His trial experience includes multiple jury trials to verdict, numerous civil hearings, mediations, extensive e-discovery and motion practice experience, and the successful pro bono defense of an individual charged with murder.

Eli did his undergraduate work at Kenyon College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1999. He graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 2002. While at Marquette University Law School he served as Executive Editor of the Marquette Sports Law Review.

Eli has written several articles and taught seminars involving civil litigation and data privacy. He has written "A Call for Action: Federal Anti-Pretexting Law Needed," Mealey's Privacy Reporter, Vol. 3, No. 4, October 2006 (co-authored with Brian D. Wright) and "An Overview of the Driver's Privacy Protection Act of 1994," Mealey's Privacy Reporter, Vol. 3, No. 1, July 2006 (co-authored with John A. Fischer). Eli also presented at seminars relating to civil litigation on a variety of topics, including trial practice and the attorney-client privilege.

Eli is an active leader in the legal community and currently serves as the Chair of the Dayton Bar Association's Civil Trial Practice Committee.  He also is involved with the Dayton Volunteer Lawyer's Project and the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court. He also is active in the local community and is a Trustee of the Centerville Education Foundation, a Board Member of Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm, a member of the Associate Board of the Dayton Art Institute, and a previous member of the Associate Board of the Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Eli is also a 2008 participant of Leadership Dayton, a program of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, and has been selected as an Ohio Rising Star by the Ohio Super Lawyers Survey conducted by Law & Politics Magazine.

Eli is admitted to practice in Ohio and Wisconsin.
