Andy joined Faruki Ireland & Cox P.L.L. as an associate in 2003. His practice ranges from quasi-contractual disputes to complex business torts and employment related issues. Andy also focuses on data security and privacy matters, contract disputes, and first amendment issues, including defamation, access to news an public records, and the Freedom of Information Act. Prior to joining FI&C, Andy clerked for the Honorable David Welch from the Monroe County Circuit Court in Bloomington, Indiana, where he gained extensive experience in courtroom proceedings, including pre-trial conferences, jury trials, sentencing hearings, and felony proceedings.

In 2005, Andy was selected to participate in the firm's externship program with the Montgomery County Public Defender's Office, where he participated in preliminary hearings, sentencing hearings, criminal docket sessions, suppression hearings, status conferences, and scheduling conferences. Andy also tried two felony jury trials: (1) a felonious assault and aggravated robbery case, which resulted in a hung jury verdict, and (2) a domestic violence and abduction case, which resulted in a split verdict. In August 2007, Andy obtained, along with Ronald I. Raether, Jr., a $1,250,000 award after a week long arbitration before the American Arbitration Association concerning a fraud case.

Andy is a 2000 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Wabash College and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Andy is a 2003 graduate of Indiana University School of Law -- Bloomington, where he served as Executive Editor of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies, was a member of the trial team, and was named "Top Oralist" in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition. Prior to attending law school, Andy worked in Washington, D.C. at the law firms of Jones Day Reavis & Pogue, and Steptoe & Johnson, and interned at the White House.

Andy is a frequent CLE speaker and has published articles, including: (1) "From Civil to Criminal -- Overnight," Ohio Lawyer, vol. 20 No. 2 (March/April 2006); (2) "Preventing Privacy Pitfalls: Avoiding FTC Inquiries into Privacy Policy Compliance Procedures," Mealey's Privacy Reports, vol. 3, No. 6 (December 2006); and (3) "Andrew J. Reitz on The Use of a Trademark in Metatags in a Descriptive Manner: Gregerson v. Vilana Fin., Inc." LexisNexis Expert Commentary - Research Solutions (January 2008).

Andy is a 2007 Ohio Super Lawyers - Rising Star Award Winner, a 2007 Dayton Business Journal - 40 Under 40 Award Winner, and a 2007 Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce - Volunteer of the Quarter.

Andy is admitted to practice in the state of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a national member of The Order of Barristers and is also an active member of the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court, Generation Dayton, the American Association for Justice, the Incarnation Catholic Church Young Adults Group, and the Dayton, Ohio, Federal, and American Bar Associations. Andy was born in Portland, Indiana, and graduated from Jay County High School in 1996.
