Peter joined the firm in 2011 after nine years in Silicon Valley litigating securities and professional liability, employment, intellectual property and trade secret matters. Peter’s clients have included public and private companies in a variety of industries, including biotech, semiconductors, computer hardware and software, and telecommunications, as well as private equity firms and investment banks.

Peter’s representative matters include:


Obtaining a dismissal with prejudice of a federal securities class action and related state court derivative actions against a leading provider of servers and storage products for large-scale data centers;

 •  Obtaining favorable, mediated resolutions of securities class actions against biopharmaceutical companies relating to FDA approval of their drugs-in-development;

 •  Defending a software company in a lawsuit involving claims of trade secret misappropriation and counterclaims for patent infringement and unfair competition, resulting in a favorable settlement which included dismissal with prejudice of the entire action;

 •  Obtaining a ruling in a binding arbitration denying all claims against a semiconductor designer and manufacturer for copyright infringement and alleged breaches of a license agreement; and

 •  Performing corporate investigations on behalf of the boards of directors of digital cable, telecommunications and technology companies regarding revenue recognition, employee compensation and other accounting issues.

Peter graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2001, where he served as Articles Editor for the Indiana Law Journal. After graduating from Indiana University, Peter clerked for the Honorable David Hamilton of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. In 2009, Judge Hamilton was elevated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Peter is a member of the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court and the Ohio, Dayton, California and American Bar Associations, and is admitted to the California Bar, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts for California. Peter has lectured and made presentations regarding a variety of subjects including managing large-scale discovery, conducting the depositions of fact and expert witnesses, the anatomy of a securities class action, and the determination of corporate citizenship for purposes of federal diversity jurisdiction.
