Since joining the firm as an associate in 2003, Katie has participated in various aspects of the firm's litigation practice, including class action defense, contract interpretation disputes, false advertising and privacy litigation. Katie is licensed to practice law before the Supreme Court of Ohio and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and is a member of the American, Ohio State, Federal, Dayton and Miami County Bar Associations, where she participates in various committees.
In 2004, Katie was selected as one of the first two participants in the firm's program with the Montgomery County Public Defender's Office. While serving as a Public Defender, Katie represented numerous indigent defendants in all aspects of the criminal process, including preliminary and suppression hearings.
A 2003 honors graduate of the Notre Dame Law School, Katie also earned a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and was the first in the school's history to combine the two courses of study into one program. While at Notre Dame, Katie also served as the Executive Articles Editor for the Journal of College and University Law and participated in various organizations in both the law school and economics department. During the summer of 2001, Katie completed an externship with the Honorable Walter H. Rice, United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
While attending DePauw University, Katie was a member of the Management Fellows Honors Program and completed a semester-long internship with BAA PLC in London, England. Katie was also active in Alpha Omicron Pi Theta Chapter, serving as Treasurer and as a Financial Advisor to the chapter after graduation, and participated in the DePauw Community Service Program.
A lifelong resident of Tipp City, Ohio, Katie currently serves as a Trustee for both the Tippecanoe Historical Society and the Tipp City Public Library, where she also is Secretary of the Board.
